WGLHA Special Meeting
WGLHA Dam Party
Saturday, October 24, 2:00 to 5:00 pm
(Rain Date Saturday, October 31)
It’s Dam Party time! We’re going to throw one on the Saturday before Halloween in Farrell Park and on the dam. Here are some of the things we have planned for you, so plan to come. This will be a great chance to meet up with your neighbors and have some fun!
Costume Contest: Join us for a SPOOKTACULAR costume contest! Categories are: Adults (13 years+): scariest, best duo or group, most original, best 5 minute throw together. Kids (12 and under): spookiest, best super hero, cutest, best duo or group, funniest. Runway for judging will take place at 3:30. Participants, see Jane Raymond to get a number to wear and a ballot to vote for the winners.
Dog Parade: We are extremely excited to include our four-legged family members to participate in the FIRST EVER WGL Halloween Doggie Parade. Picture it, our furry friends all dressed up and ready for the cutest parade this lake has ever seen! Whether they are dressed to impress, to scare or simply put a smile on our faces, we will never forget watching them STRUT their STUFF down the red carpet as they vie for the top spot in their category. Categories include: Most Original; Most Adorable; “Spoopiest” (just learned this term from my teenagers - it means scary cute); best "Person and Dog Duo" and Funniest. Ribbons will be given for 1st place in each category and all participants will receive a special treat. Start planning now because the competition is heating up. The parade begins at 2:30.
Arts & Crafts Fair: What a great time to show off your talent and make some money too! Bring your own table and tent if needed and set up your goodies for all the eager shoppers! Neighbors, remember to bring some money for shopping! Plan to set up your wares on the dam close to Farrell Park. Call Parris Edwards with any questions at 309-8831.
Cake Walk: Join your neighbors as you clump through Walnut Grove Lake's Creepiest Cake Walk. You'll walk over cobwebs, coffins, and corpses before landing on a spot where you may win a cake, cookies, or candy. The cakewalk will be every 15 minutes throughout the afternoon until items are gone. Bring items such as cake, cookies, cupcakes, or candy to participate. The more you bring, the longer the cakewalk will last. Cakewalk items can be dropped off at 8362 Bergen Drive Friday afternoon or Saturday morning before the carnival.
Pumpkin Contest: This year we will be having a decorated pumpkin contest. So bring your decorated or carved pumpkin to the pumpkin patch to show off your creation. There it will be displayed and judged by all for the following categories: Most Scary; Most Artistic; Most Original. Each pumpkin will be assigned a number and displayed so that everyone can place a vote on their favs in each category.
Food Trucks: – Lick the Plate Bistro (burgers, sandwiches & tacos), and Helen Suggs (fair food)
We will also have Music, a Bounce House and Door Prizes.
See you there!
